WordPress Plugin – Warning Before Closing

Today i published my new wordpress plugin, which control user navigation. The plugin name is “Close Warning”.

It prompts the user a confirmation message before they close the browser window or tab. After that a lightweight window popup jumps up with your preset announcement or message  (in richtext format)

The Advantages >>

  1. You can avoid the accidental close of browser window
  2. You can tell or mention any message or offers before they navigate away from your website
  3. It works not only on closing, but in any type of external navigation (Internal navigation is screened out from this warning)
  4. Since it is built on lightweight window support, your message or warning appears very eye-catchy

You can download the plugin from : http://www.sajithmr.com/downloads/onclose-warning.zip

    Good work.
    1) While downloading the plug-in, I did not get to know if it is compatible with ver2.6
    2) No readme that tells me how to install the plug in
    3) Close window messages are different in FF & Chrome
    4) Both in FF & Chrome, click close window, when you press cancel (or stay on page) and then click on close window again, it closes without any more warnings
    5) Does not seem to work in IE6

    Hey Sridhar,
I am very much glad to see your comment and suggestions . Yes, i will make the read me file and details soon. I submitted the plugin request to wordpress.org. It takes a week to approve. I will update the plugin as my best after that approval.

Yes, if once the warning shown, the close button works like as usual for the same page. I will provide options soon and will let you know when it finishes. Just uploaded the beta (can’t call it beta , say alpha) for suggestions and comments.

Yes, different browsers shows different warning message. The onbeforeclose event is different for different browsers.

    For IE6 need to test

I will need this plugin myself, I use a 5 button mouse which has 2 extra buttons. I have configured one of the additional buttons to close a window and I accidentally use it and loose data.

    Might help me. thanks
